Dr. David Nunan is Director of the English Centre and Chair Professor of Applied Linguistics, University of Hong Kong. He is well known for his innovative methodology and his remarkable ability to bring to the classroom a variety of activities that will enhance students' oral production. He is a past president of International TESOL, and has published numerous journal articles and texts including the core series Atlas, Expressions, and GO FOR IT! and the skills series Listen In, all for Heinle. Current, Accurate, and Concise

I found this book to be a great addition to my TESOL collection. Short, accurate chapters on all or most issues relevant to the TESOL world today are written by some of the field's most distinguished scholars.
I read that some reviewers found the terms and writing style to be pretentious jargon, however, I don't think these reviewers give the TESOL field its due. Academic language is part of being a scholar.

Good as a textbook

Used this book as a reference for my TESOL course. The chapters were well-organized with a good flow between them. Much of the material was common sense but there's still plenty to learn for those interested in TESOL.
On the flip side, some of the research is quite dated and the prose can be a bit plain and tedious to read.

It is a very basic foundational book that was highly recommended for understanding the theories of learning communication for teaching English to diverse groups of people.
