Throughly enjoyed this roller coaster of a story!

Just finished reading Dragonlove, the sequel to Dragonfriend (another wonderful book!). This is the continuation of the story about Hualiama, the first Dragonrider, and the dragon, Grandion.
My first reaction is "Wow!" - my second, "I didn't see all that coming..."
To truly understand and appreciate this book you need to first read Dragonfriend - otherwise you might get lost in the various names, backgrounds, and subplots... and there are a lot of them! It is not a "simple/easy" read - this story is rich with detail, emotion, and intriguing characters. It takes you on a roller coaster ride of interwoven subplots, timelines, and in the end brings about a satisfying resolution - while preping the stage for the next book in the series.
Rarely am I surprised by the ending of a book, but this one certainly did!
Now, I look forward to re-reading this book again in a few weeks when I can enjoy it at leisure - rather than devour it page after page to find out what happens next!

Happily back in a magical world

The sequel to DragonFriend brings us back into Lia's life six years later. As always, Marc weaves a beautiful story as we watch Lia sort out what's happened and searches for her dragon. I don't want to give spoilers, but let's just say I spent 10 hours straight reading it from cover to cover and was happily immersed back in a world I've come to love.
While this is part of a trilogy, one of the things I appreciate about Marc's writing is that he has the art to conclude a book and give completion yet still have you anticipating the next book. Most author's leave you hanging in the middle of a climax and frustrated, but Marc has the lost art of beautiful writing that you would find in the classics.

Fun action-packed dragon adventure with suspense, romance, and plot twists galore. Highly recommend!

Secchia can write dragons in a way which makes you feel as if you might see one flying by your kitchen window! They are alive, exciting, malevolent, funny, multifaceted, fully-developed, and always up to something. As our Lia wakes up from an imposed partial amnesia, she runs into the fray of saving the world and loving a tourmaline dragon. Along the way she is cruelly treated by some dragons and most humans, and loved tenderly by most dragons and some humans. Her effervescent spirit is a delight from beginning to end. This girl can dance! Poor Grandion. Other than being a hunky tourmaline dragon, he sure has a lot going against him in this second book in the series. I have faith that love will prevail and Marc will be nice to us in the final ending. Lots of fun dragon action here! Good read, highly recommend!
