Get ready!!

Wow what a book!! This book was very encouraging and made clear the truth that we get to be devoted to God and delve into His word and learn so much about Hm through prayer , studying and being skilled in the Word of God .When we do it opens us up to the Spirit realm for the RIGHT reasons . It's not a spooky book it's real and angels are real and we need to be aware of how they operate . I definitely have been opened up to the Spirit realm more . I've had a couple of angel encounters including one where an Angel woke me up when I fell asleep outside of my job at work!!! But the most important experience was when I heard people singing Joy to the World in the Spirit realm and praising God and people saying "HalleluYah" and " Thank You Jesus"!
Then I heard Jesus say "I'm here" ! Wow it was so encouraging to know Him He is here with us we don't have to fear ! I can't wait until the day Our savior returns!! Joy to the World the Lord is Come!!!

What an ADVENTURE! Just Beautiful.

Pastor Dr. Shane Wall has imparted some very delicate and precious moments with us in this insightful piece into the supernatural realm. From the first sentence this read was like a magnet to my very soul, I could not put it down. Any who wants motivation, wants a real relationship with the Lord, wants protection and wants to know how to see the things of God will surely want to read this book! I found my self sighing with excitement one minute, catching my breath the next in amazement at Gods marvelous works and on the next page I would worship, say a short prayer, drop a tear or worship! What an ADVENTURE! OH Lord Jesus my heart is so touched by the protection and care you have for us and how you show it through this short and brilliant masterpiece. I will be buying this book for several people that I love. What a nice surprise ending and how well You Lord, have carefully knitted his family together for such a time as this. It is a joyous feeling to know what the Lord will reveal to us based on the conditions of our hearts and Pastor Shane lays it out quick and clear how to get our hearts t finally arrive in proper position. I get it, I really get it on a deeper level after this read! This book is one amazing experience that Has changed my life forever. That's what Gods presence does, it changes you more and more each moment you are with Him. Glory be to God; this is a MUST READ & MUST SHARE!

Gives the Real Scoop on the Supernatural

Having read Shane Wall’s other two books, What Are You Doing After the Dance and Understanding: All Success Is Attained by It, I was excited to get hold of his new work, The Supernatural Guide to Understanding Angels. I give the book a big thumbs up. We all like angels, but very few of us actually get to see them or to understand why they come to help people on the earth. Pastor Shane Wall does know about this realm and the purpose of these beings for visiting here.

I admit that I follow Dr. Wall online, listening to his very insightful Sunday sermons. So I was curious as to what his experiences with angels have been, and this book tells some very amazing tales. In his usual down-to-earth fashion, the pastor makes no big deal of it on his end. What he wants is to explain how others can experience more of the supernatural realm and to make clear that the angels are always on a mission from God. Doing God’s work is where everything starts and ends with Pastor Wall, and apparently with the angels, too.

If angels are your thing or even if you’re skeptical, this book will make the supernatural world and God’s messengers and workers more understandable for you. In fact, I’m sure to read the contents a few more times to see how I can get on the angel track myself.

As Dr. Nettie Canada says in the foreword, “[People] need such a message to refocus their attention on the God who can secure them through whatever is shaking their lives.” This book constitutes a very uplifting and yet a very practical message.

Comparisons between life as a Staff Cadet in Kokoda Company before 1983 and 'Lord of the Flies' are not unreasonable. Allan also describes the Duntroon he returned to as an Officer in 1989. As one reader noted, this book ... "is a vivid record of the good and ill of Duntroon".

Giving a Voice to the Dead

Over the last two centuries, peat cutters in Northern Europe have been uncovering bodies that are in such good condition that it was first thought that the people found were the victims of recent crimes. Actually, the bodies were preserved by natural bog processes. Radioactive carbon dating has shown that the bodies are two thousand years old. In this work, the bog bodies are explained in all of their sometimes gruesome details. The book is illustrated with many photos.

The bog bodies were immediately seen to be murder victims, but who were they and why were they killed? The author, Miranda Aldhouse-Green, who is an archaeologist, presents us with the facts surrounding the bodies. Modern forensic techniques have revealed how the people lived, what they ate over their lives, what they ate in the days before their deaths, and how they were killed. We learn that they were not the victims of common crime, but were deliberately put to death.

The author presents some interesting theories and conclusions about the deaths. This book dispels any thoughts that I may have had about ideal pre-industrial society. However, as civilized as today’s Northern European descendents may seem, I am not sure about how far the world has progressed.

Worthwhile treatise

A strangely circular book in that the author constantly circles around the topics, touching on a topic then deferring it to later, then referring back to it. She may touch upon a subject in chapter one, but defer the full conversation about it to chapter 8, and then in chapter 8 refers back to chapter one. Part of the issue is that in reality, it's not possible to solve "Europe's Ancient Mystery" as the title optimistically proclaims since there's simply not enough evidence from that time period to do more than provide some educated guesses. But Aldhouse-Green provides some fine educated guesses, focusing on a variety of topics to help provide context and insight into the mystery of why these bog bodies were often brutally murdered and buried in a bog to preserve them. From examining why the bog preserves bodies to considering their last meals, the author covers a lot of ground in this book. At times topics feel a bit repetitive because of her focus on nuances and her willingness to circle back to topics, but she does just enough to persuade the reader to persist to the end of this book.

Excellent book for one who is obsessed with Bog Bodies (like I am). I love the information about the Iron Age. This book really brings to life the cultural setting in which the big bodies lived and died.

About the Author
Nelson Eby is Professor of Geosciences at the University of Massachusetts � Lowell, where he teaches earth and environmental systems, environmental geochemistry, igneous and metamorphic petrology, structural geology, sedimentation and stratigraphy, advanced geochemistry, applied geophysics, and marine geology. He has published over 70 papers dealing with geochemistry and igneous petrology and his current research encompasses geological problems on four continents. He is a past associate editor of the Canadian Mineralogist and the Journal of African Earth Sciences.

Buy The New Version.

"The Tall Book Of Christmas" Selected by Dorothy Hall Smith.

Harper & Row, New York, 1954.

I was cleaning out the basement and found a beat-up copy of "The Tall Book Of Christmas". I remembered my oldest daughter reading this book at Christmas time and getting to the very last story, "The Night Before Christmas" but saving that story for Christmas Eve. My daughter is now forty years old. I thought that I would purchase a new copy of this pretty book for her daughter, Tabitha, and so, I went on Amazon.

Amazon says that a new version of "The Tall Book Of Christmas" will be published in October 2006. The new table of contents listed on Amazon is just about the same as the old book I had. Christmas carols are interspersed among Christmas stories making an agreeable change of reading pace, especially if you can convince the children to sing along. The first story is a synthesis of the birth of Christ according to St. Luke and St. Matthew; this is exceedingly fitting. Illustrations are both color and black and white.

I highly recommend getting the book for your children.

Somebody please republish this book!

I agree with all the reviews posted. I can still recite passages from "Granny Glittens & Her Amazing Mittens" ("We are sorry. The Store") and "Giant Grummers Christmas". "Christmas Through a Knot-Hole" is my favorite, however. My mother read the stories in A Tall Book of Christmas out loud to all her five children, and I have read them to my two. Would someone please republish this book before I have grandchildren?!

A wonderful Christmas compilation!

I loved this book as a child, and would like to find copies to give to my children, nieces, nephews, and others. The book is tall and narrow in shape, thus the title, and contains many Christmas stories that are fun to read over and over each Christmas season. The Giant Grummer, Granny Glittens and the Amazing Mittens, Christmas through the Knothole all spring to mind though I haven't seen the book in 20 years! I hope someone will republish this wonderful collection!
